As we all know, the Boston Bruins signed captain Patrice Bergeron to a one year extension on Monday.
Reports early this summer were that Bergeron was contemplating go back home to play for the Montreal Canadiens.
However, as Bergeron had said from the start, and after his recent elbow surgery, he would rather retire then play for any team but the Bruins.
He confirmed to the media Monday afternoon when asked whether playing for Montreal was ever a consideration.
Bergeron was asked if current Canadiens GM, Kent Hughes who was his former agent, tried to recruit him this summer:
''He's known me for 20 years, so he knows me well enough to know that the Boston Bruins is the only place I wanted to be.''
It makes sense as Bergeron and his family has called Boston home for the past 18 years.
