The summer of 2022 might be one of the crazier ones that NHL fans will see in a while.
From the utmost uncertainty of who the Montreal Canadiens are going to select at first overall.
Also who could forget maybe to most RFA offer sheet possibilities ever, there's a lot to keep an eye on in the next little while.
Dallas Stars defenseman John Klingberg just made things even more interesting too, as he has told the Stars he won't be signing an extension and will hit the open market on July 13th.
NHL insider Frank Seravalli was the first to report the news:
Klingberg is coming off a season where he recorded 6 goals and 41 assists in 74 games. In his career he has appeared in 552 games and has collected 71 goals and 303 assists for 374 total points.
This will make Klingberg the biggest (and most expensive) defenseman on the free agent market. Kris Letang is reportedly close to a deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins and the next best is veteran P.K. Subban.
The Boston Bruins were very interested in Klingberg at the trade deadline last season but went with the left-shot
Hampus Lindholm from the Anaheim Ducks.
