A recent report revealed that the Boston Bruins have emerged as a top landing destination for a big named, veteran center as free agency approaches.

After being eliminated in the first round to the Dallas Stars, it was reported that a veteran forward will be leaving the Colorado Avalanche in free agency.
During the NHL trade deadline of the 2024-25 season, the Colorado Avalanche ended up acquiring one of the most sought after centers, completing a trade with the New York Islanders to acquire Brock Nelson.
Avalanche's General Manager Chris MacFarland had to pay a pretty penny to acquire him, sending their top prospect in Calum Ritchie, and Oliver Kylington as well as two draft picks to the Islanders.
Nelson did not play a huge part for the Avalanche offensively, but played a big role for them defensively.
MacFarland spoke highly about him during the end of season press conference even though he struggled offensively:
«Brock came in and did a good job. He didn't get a goal in the playoffs, but, like, we don't judge everything by goals, right? He's a very strong defensive player. He's a big body. He's hard to play against in his own way. He's been a proven goal scorer in this league. That's the danger of short sample sizes in the playoffs, right? If we move on and he gets five goals in Round 2 and whatever, everyone forgets about Round 1."

Bruins Emerge As A Top Landing Spot For Nelson

The 33-year-old is set to become a free agent on July 1st, and a recent report suggested that he will not be returning back to the Colorado Avalanche.

The Boston Bruins were highly linked to Nelson leading up to the trade deadline, and there is no doubt that if he hits free agency, Sweeney will be all over him.
Especially given the fact that the Boston Bruins are hurting for center depth, and Nelson could solve a lot of their problems.
