The Boston Bruins have swiftly made their first move of the National Hockey League off-season with the acquisition of a star goaltender
General manager of the Boston Bruins Don Sweeney has quickly begun working the phones and instantly begun plotting on improvement for this 're-tooling' process, and it all kicked off with a signing.
The club announced that Cameron Korpi, a 20-year-old 6-foot-4 goaltender who's a three-time USHL goaltender of the week, has signed with the organization.
The young prospect recently transferred from the University of Michigan to Union Division One College.
Korpi posted a 7-6-1 record with a .904 save percentage and is a Michigan-born prodigy, and his resume speaks for itself, this kid's the real deal:
A three-time USHL Goaltender of the Week - Played in 47 games last season with a 26-13-1 record, an .892 save percentage and a 2.98 GAA - Backstopped Tri-City to back-to-back Clark Cup semifinal appearances - Spent time with USNTDP and Muskegon as well as Oklahoma and Bismarck of the NAHL - Has a USHL career record of 44-26-8 with an .889 and a 3.09 and a NAHL record of 21-6-2 with a .925 and a 2.02 - Also played for Honeybaked and Little Caesars - Invited to the 2020 NTDP Evaluation Camp - Ranked No. 20 by NHL Central Scouting in the 2023 NHL Draft
Is it a cause of concern as to why this young netminder wasn't drafted in 2023 despite his high ranking of 20th overall by NHL Central Scouting, but it is surely a steal of a deal for Don Sweeney and the Bruins.
