Boston Bruins nearly completed a blockbuster trade at the NHL draft with the Calgary Flames

Moments before the NHL Draft, the Boston Bruins were scrambling, as they intended to make some big moves but only if it promised the organization a step closer in the right direction.

One major rumor that was circulating during this time, was that the Boston Bruins were in fact undecided of whether or not they were going to keep their top-10 draft pick, or trade it for a promising player.

However, the NHL Draft concluded with the Boston Bruins retaining James Hagens as their No. 7 overall, yet, new insight has just surfaced the media, revealing that this Original Six franchise was nearly completing a blockbuster trade with the Calgary Flames at this point.

In a recent post on social media, via «X», revealed that the Boston Bruins were expressing immense interest in Calgary Flames defenseman, Rasmus Andersson, leading up to and during the 2025 NHL Draft.

Now, speculations have begun to grow regarding whether or not the Boston Bruins should continue their pursuit to acquire this blueliner.

Andersson's current contract with the Calgary Flames, six-year, $4.55 million average annual value (AAV), will be expiring at the end of the 2025/26 NHL season, where this highly skilled defenseman will become an unrestricted free agent (UFA).
