GM Don Sweeney has a mandateto build a winning team, as the Boston Bruins want to make it to the postseason again. This time with Head Coach Joe Sacco behind the bench.

However, there is a need to upgrade the top six, and one of the most sought-after forwards right now is Chris Kreider.

With a 6-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers, GM Chris Drury made it known that he's ready to wheel and deal, as the Rangers need to shake up their lineup.

Chris Kreider's name has been at the top of news feeds, as the lifelong Rangers could go to a contender.

But, GM Don Sweeney could miss out on the top-six talent. Why?

Well the Boston Bruins need to upgrade their lineup right away

There was speculation that Kreider could be moved at the trade deadline, which has since been updated as a potential offseason move thanks to Darren Dreger.

It doesn't help GM Chris Drury that Kreider would drop information into the media which weakens Drury's position, and the forwards value.

«Back spasms,» Kreider told reporters after practice Wednesday when asked about his two-game absence coinciding with trade rumors. «Very independent, annoying things. So we're working on it. Done a couple things to remedy it so it doesn't happen anymore.»

So, even while the value for Kreider would be low there's no way that Sweeney would be able to take advantage of the Rangers' current situation.

The Bruins need top-six help right away and very few options for the Bruins left as talk of Trevor Zegras has once again died down.

"Numerous sources had confirmed to RG late last week that one team Sweeney was talking to was the Columbus Blue Jackets," Murphy wrote. "However, another NHL source claimed that the Bruins were also talking to the Utah Hockey Club and the Anaheim Ducks.

"With regards to the latter, one player who is once again looking like he may be on the way out in Anaheim is forward Trevor Zegras."

Kreider would be an excellent addition to the Bruins top-six, as a net-front presence on the power-play, and a three-time 30+ goal scorer.

When the Rangers do make Kreider available, we should expect a bidding war no less.
