Looking at the defenseman that are set to be free agents this year, the most enticing one is
Aaron Ekblad.
Other right shot defenseman include
Dante Fabbro, Nick Perbix, and
Cody Ceci. The market isn't too big for RD, making it so the Bruins may have to trade for one.
With that being said, the Boston Bruins are apparently eyeing down one of the NHL's top defensive trade candidates.
David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period revealed that the Bruins are one of the teams that are willing to go all in on Calgary Flames blueliner Rasmus Andersson.
Andersson is a solid two-way defenseman that would bring an immediate boost to the Bruins second pairing.
He has also shown throughout his career that he can handle big minutes, and is also currently in the middle of his prime at 28-years-old.
Furthermore, he is known for having some good leadership abilities, given that he is an alternate captain for the Flames.
He carries a very affordable contract as well with a cap hit of just $4.55 million, but is set to expire after this year.
In 81 games with the Calgary Flames,
Andersson scored 11 goals, 31 points along with 196 blocks.
With free agency just a couple of days away, the Boston Bruins are going to be one of the teams to watch as they are going to be making some big moves.
