Nikita Zadorov took a shot at General Manager Kyle Davidson of the Chicago Blackhawks for making a big mistake during their rebuild.
During the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, the Blackhawks made a huge pick, picking Connor Bedard 1st overall, and have centered their rebuild around him as he is a generational superstar.
Since being drafted, Bedard won the Calder Trophy in 2024, but began this season in a massive slump. The blame fell on head coach Luke Richardson, and the Blackhawks have since fired him.
During the first-round of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, the Blackhawks had a perfect opportunity to draft Ivan Demidov, but instead they went on to draft Artyom Levshunov, and passed on Demidov.
Montreal Canadiens General Manager Kent Hughes decided to draft Demidov instead and Demidov is currently lighting up the KHL while playing limited ice time.
Zadorov called out Kyle Davidson for passing on Demidov, as he had the perfect opportunity to draft him and didn't.
Since being drafted 5th overall by the Canadiens, he has gone on to put up 37 points in 47 games with the SKA St. Petersburg Hockey Club in the KHL.
Out of the 37 points he has this season, 16 of them have been goals while just averaging 12:15 ice time in his last 11 games.
For Levshunov, he has already made it to the American Hockey League, where Demidov is still playing in the KHL, but there is speculation that next season Demidov will be joining the Canadiens in the NHL.
