Jeremy Swayman has stunned fans with his comments while playing for Team USA at the IIHF World Championship.

During the 2024 off-season, Swayman and the Boston Bruins were having a tense contract dispute which lead to him missing training camp, and preseason as both of them took public shots at each other.
Eventually Swayman would sign a massive eight-year, $64 million contract with the Boston Bruins just 2 days before the regular season began.
Everyone thought the Bruins were going to be in good hands, but that wasn't the case at all. In his first full year as a starter, Swayman had a big drop in his performance, having a record of 22-29-7 with a 3.11 GAA, and a .892 SV%.
This was after the Bruins had already traded Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators, which helped Swayman's case to hold out for a contract.
At the NHL trade deadline, the Bruins had a fire sale, and ended up plummeting down to the bottom of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Jeremy Swayman Stuns Fans With Comments

"It was," Swayman said about if he decided to play at the World Championship because of his mental struggles. "I knew this was a great opportunity to play meaningful hockey. At this time of year, I wanted to prove to myself that I could play a full year of a ton of games and still hold my body together and perform at a high level. I couldn't be more honored to play for the USA, and I'm never going to say no. It's something I'm really prideful about."

Swayman looks completely different while at the World Championship. He currently is 5-0, and has helped Team USA make it to the semifinals, and are set to play Elias Lindholm and Team Sweden.
"It's an honor every time. I couldn't be happier to be at this tournament, especially based on the year I had," Swayman said. "I feel like a completely new human being and a completely new goalie. The guys in this room have been so incredible for just supporting me, and it's just been a contagious locker room of joy. I just feel like a completely new human being."

Swayman seems to be happy and enjoying his time, hopefully the Bruins get this Swayman next season and not the one they did.
