Former Boston Bruins Defenseman Officially Retires From Professional Hockey Following Recent Announcement

A recent announcement revealed that a former Boston Bruins defenseman has officially decided to call it a career, and retire from professional hockey.
According to multiple reports, former Bruins defenseman Steven Kampfer has called decided it was time to hang the skates up and retire from the KHL.
Kampfer was originally drafted by the Anaheim Ducks during the 2007 Entry Level Draft, drafted 93rd overall in the fourth round.
He would never play a game for the Anaheim Ducks in the NHL, and was traded to the Boston Bruins in 2010 for a conditional fourth-round pick.
Kampfer was selected by the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League (NHL) in the fourth round, 93rd overall, of the 2007 NHL entry draft. On March 2, 2010, the Ducks traded the rights to Kampfer to the Boston Bruins in exchange for a conditional fourth-round draft pick.
Kampfer would go on to play for the Bruins for parts of two seasons, but during the 2011-12 season was traded once again.
The Bruins would reacquire Kampfer from the Rangers during the 2018-19 season, and played his final three years in the NHL with the Boston Bruins.
In 2019, Sweeney signed Kampfer to a two-year contract extension, and after his contract was up he ended up going over to the KHL.

In his last season of professional hockey he ended up having a stat line of 10-22-32 in 59 games while playing for the Traktor Chelyabinsk.
His retirement has now been made official:
