Completed look at the Boston Bruins aftermath of the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline
The Boston Bruins retool is complete and will have a new look thanks to GM Don Sweeney, here's the final tally for today's deadline
The Boston Bruins will have a new look, and it will be without
Brad Marchand who has been a franchise player.
The last Captain to follow Patrice Bergeron.
Now GM
Don Sweeney has restocked the team with draft picks, prospects, and some NHL quality players.
While it's arguable whether the Bruins will ever find their window of contention again, they did find some quality players involved in some of these trades.
The Boston Bruins traded 3C Charlie Coyle and the 2026 5th-round pick today to the Colorado Avalanche for Center
Casey Mittelstadt,
William Zellers, and a second-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.
Coyle will be a rental for the Avalanche who have Stanley Cup hopes. While the Bruins receive assets, and a promising young forward in Mittelstadt.
The Bruins took advantage of the Maple Leafs' need for a solid defensive option and traded Brandon Carlo to their longtime rivals, receiving forward
Fraser Minten, and a 2025 1st-round pick in return. A solid return for Carlo.
The retool didn't end there either, as the Bruins traded forwards
Max Jones, and
Trent Frederic to Edmonton for Max Wanner for the Blues 2025 2nd-round pick, and the Oilers 2026 fourth-round pick.
Let's make no mistake Don Sweeney tallied some wins here, but the Marchand trade to Florida is where it all fell off as he received less in value for Marchand than Brandon Carlo, with a 2027 2nd-round pick, which could become a 2028 1st conditionally.
