Completed trade between the Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins on this day

This year's offseason is not the first time that the Boston Bruins underwent major moves within the National Hockey League.

As it has been revealed that 30 years ago today, August 1, 1995, the Boston Bruins organization emerged as trading partners with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Little did these two teams know they would make a history altering trade.

This trade was revealed on social media, via «X», earlier this morning.

The Boston Bruins acquired both, Kevin Stevens and Shawn McEachern, from the Pittsburgh Penguins for their former players, Glen Murray, Bryan Smolinski, and a 3rd round pick in 1996, who would end up being Boyd Kane.

The Boston Bruins quickly traded Stevens to the Los Angeles Kings during the NHL's 1995/96 season, as he struggled in Boston, scoring 23 points in 41 games under their coach at the time, Steve Kasper, who often benched him, which ultimately led to a his departure.

McEachern on the other hand, has a more productive stint in Boston, as he recorded 24 goals and 53 points within 82 games during the 1995/96 NHL season.

While McEachern would later depart from Boston, he did in fact return to the organization during the 2005/06 NHL season, and managed to achieve eight points within 28 games prior to his retirement.
