On Friday the St. Louis Blues cut their training camp roster down to 43, including former Boston Bruin Nick Ritchie.
Ritchie, 27, was in camp invitee on a PTO, and the Blues felt he could have beefed up the bottom six. However, he did not impress enough and if he made the team, he would have cut into other players who deserve a look.
Nick Ritchie has played for a handful of teams, including splitting last season between the Arizona Coyotes and Calgary Flames, with 26 points (13 goals and 13 assists) in 74 games. He was traded to Calgary at the deadline in a move that sent his brother, Brett Ritchie, to Arizona. It made headlines at the time for swapping the brothers.
The Anaheim Ducks drafted the Orangeville, Ontario native in the first round, 10th overall, in 2014. He has accumulated 186 points (84 goals and 102 assists) in 481 games over eight seasons with his fair share of teams; Ducks, Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, Coyotes and Flames.
