Recent insight has unveiled how the Boston Bruins organization approached their newly acquired top prospect in regard to his professional decision.

The Boston Bruins are in dire need to be extremely strategic with their moves and how they develop their prospects during this crucial portion of their re-tooling process.
If the Bruins intend to become bigger contenders in the near future, they need to be cautious with how the develop these prospects, as that can undoubtedly shift how the player pans out in professional hockey.
And when it comes to the Boston Bruins' newly drafted top prospect, James Hagens, the organization wants to take their time with him.
General manager, Don Sweeney, also revealed after drafting Hagens that there was no need to rush him in his development.
Yet, the organization put the decision into Hagens' hands.

The Boston Bruins organization gave their newly acquired top prospect, James Hagens, the opportunity to decide his professional decision

The organization's front office spoke to James Hagens following the 2025 development camp, and allowed this young forward to make his own decision.
However, it came with a catch.
The Bruins warned him that if he wanted to make the quick jump into professional hockey, he would have to fight and earn a spot on the NHL roster.
Although the Boston Bruins gave him the option to make his own decision, Hagens would later decide that it would be best to go into his sophomore season with Boston College.
«It was a great talk, a great conversation. It was up to me. And (they said), 'if you come here, you have to make the team.' That's how it is. Nothing's given to you. Everything's earned,» Hagens told Boston Herald's Steve Conroy. «It's just taking it day-by-day, knowing what point you're at. You never want to rush it, so it came down to sitting down and talking to my family, and talking to them and figuring out what the path was for me. But it's just pure excitement to be around this, to be a part of it.»

This extra year will offer Hagens the opportunity to add strength and improve his skill set even more, which could undoubtedly help not only his own future, but the Boston Bruins' as well.
«I mean, I still want to be a Bruin really bad,» Hagens said. «But it's just the time frame of it. I think there's no rush. Going back to school, it's a great opportunity, and I'm really grateful that I have that option. It's just making sure that you're taking the opportunity in hand and you're able to do a lot with it.»
