Latest Negotiation Talks Confirm The Boston Bruins Are Preparing To Move On From One of Their Two Star Goalies
The Boston Bruins goalie duo has proven to be a failure this season, as neither
Korpisalo nor Swayman has proved to be what the team needs to be a winner.
Korpisalo has a record of 10-9-3, with a 2.89 GAA and .893 save percentage. While the Bruins' handsomely paid starter who missed training camp, has a whopping record this season of 20-25-6, 3.12 GAA, and a .892 save percentage.
Swayman has been looking for trouble as well, trying to start unnecessary fights with opposing teams' goalies like
Darcy Kuemper.
A big yikes, for a player who's getting paid $8.25 million AAV to tend the goal.
Yes, we're referring to this:
In the meantime, we could find a good replacement in the AHL right now, who'd be an affordable option. But that would mean the Bruins would have to invest more into Providence for an actual prospect pipeline, something they don't do.
They could promote
Michael DiPietro, who makes $775K, and his contract is set to expire at the end of the year.
Seems like it'd be the smart thing to do right? It'd seem smart to lock down DiPietro long-term, which they're in the midst of. But in the greater scheme of things, if DiPietro is the future, why are you keeping either of Swayman, or Korpisalo?
DiPietro has better stats this season with 38 games played with the P-Bruins, 2.03 GAA, and a .928 save percentage.
But does Don Sweeney see what we see here?
