NHL insider reveals the shocking reason the Bruins signed enforcer Tanner Jeannot: It was leaked to the media
A lot of fans had some mixed feelings behind the Jeannot signing, especially considering his age, and style of game he plays, but also because of the term and cap they gave him.
With their not being a lot of big names hitting the free agent market this year, the Boston Bruins went out and spent all of their money on depth players.
With that though, General Manager Don Sweeney ended up giving veteran forward
Tanner Jeannot a deal that no one saw coming.
Jeannot was signed to a five-year deal, worth $17 million in total or $3.4 million per year.
The real reason on the signing was just revealed
Fans have expressed their displeasure with this move, but Elliotte Friedman has just revealed exactly why it was made:
"The one thing that I think happened with Boston was I heard that they were like 10 teams after this guy. Like, I heard the competition for Jeannot was fierce... I think there were a lot of teams after him... I think there were a ton of teams after him. There's not a lot of guys like him."
Friedman also believes the Bruins wanted him so that it could take the enforcer responsibility off of defenseman
Nikita Zadorov:
Elliotte Friedman on 32 Thoughts thinks the reason the #NHLBruins signed Tanner Jeannot was to help take the enforcer responsibility off Nikita Zadorov, who finished with 145 PIM - 1st in NHL last season 👀
