Roster transaction: Bruins defenseman gets assigned to the ECHL

Today, the Providence Bruins ended up making a roster announcement, and a defenseman has been assigned to the Maine Mariners in the ECHL.
Providence Bruins General Manager Evan Gold ended up announcing that the team has loaned defenseman Loke Johansson to the Maine Mariners, the ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins.
Johansson was originally drafted by the Boston Bruins with the 186th overall pick in the 6th round of the 2024 NHL Entry Level Draft.
He has yet to appear in an NHL game with the Boston Bruins, or an American Hockey League game with the Providence Bruins.
The Huddinge, Sweden, native was on the Providence Bruins roster after training camp, but in two games so far this season, he did not play a game.
Last season, he skated in 62 games with the Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL where he ended up scoring four goals, 18 assists for 22 points.
In 2024-25, the 19-year-old 6-foot-3, 213-LBS defenseman ended up helping Moncton capture the 2025 Presidents Cup.
Bruins extended their affiliate with the Maine Mariners
Earlier in the off-season, the Boston Bruins ended up extending their affiliation with the Maine Mariners, and GM Evan Gold of the Providence Bruins issued a statement.
«We are proud to extend our affiliation with the Maine Mariners through the 2027-28 season,» said Providence Bruins General Manager Evan Gold. «It has been a pleasure getting to know and collaborate with Dexter Paine over the past year-plus of his ownership tenure, and we are confident that his and the entire Mariners staff's dedication to developing players and competing for championships fully aligns with our organizational development model. The Bruins are excited to continue working with the Mariners to prepare our prospects for the next levels.»
