Recent Announcement Revealed The Boston Bruins Are Set To Overpay To Keep This Forward Around

Morgan Geekie has had an excellent second half of the season, as he's more than proven he's ready to be an impact player in the Bruins' lineup.

This season he's scored 51 points (29 goals, 22 assists), doing this on the Bruins' first line flanked by David Pastrnak and, up until recently, Pavel Zacha.

He's also proven that he's a top-six winger, as his shooting percentage is at 20.7%, doing this with only 16:55 TOI a night.

Despite only scoring two points in his first twenty games this season, he's found a way to flip the switch and become a regular contributor for the team.

Geekie could see a nice payday at the end of the season thanks to the quality of his performance in 2024-2025.

His $2 million AAV contract will expire at the end of the 2024-2025 NHL season which places him in RFA status, under Bruins control.

While we could expect Geekie to earn a cool $3-4 million contract extension, it's likely he may have played himself out of that figure, according to The Hockey Writers' Brandon Share-Cohen.

When the Bruins do take a contract extension into consideration, they'll need to consider the future and whether or not he can replicate this season again. Given that he's continued to pile-on the points with a terrible Bruins team, there's no doubt he deserves a different tier of contract than just your typical player coming off RFA status.

The team needs to retain Geekie in order to maintain a return to competitiveness, and he will be a key piece in the new Bruins lineup.
