With the recent rumours out of Dallas after being eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs, an unexpected door opened for the Bruins and Stars to make a trade.
Right after being eliminated, there were a lot of rumours about Jason Robertson being traded from the Dallas Stars, but it seems like now a new player is more likely to be traded, and he could be a perfect fit for the Bruins.
David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period revealed that Stars GM Jim Nill would rather trade Mason Marchment over Jason Robertson:
#TexasHockey are indeed taking calls on Jason Robertson, but GM Jim Nill is hesitant to move him. As they look to free up some cap space, I'm told they are shopping Mason Marchment, who is entering the final year of his contract ($4.5M AAV)
A Door Opens For The Bruins To Make A Trade With The Stars
After trading Trent Frederic, the Bruins are going to have to replace him and Mason Marchment could be the ideal target.
He is a 6-foot-5 physical forward who likes to throw his body around, and would provide them with some secondary scoring, and could be a perfect player Sturm uses in his lineup.
Mason Marchment is 6-foot-5, he's physical and is coming off two straight 22-goal seasons. Feels like the kind of player Marco Sturm could use in his lineup
Especially considering other players to his caliber like Bennett, Knies, and Cuylle will more then likely be out of reach.
Marchment is also a very afforable player with one year left on his deal at $4.5 million.
Agreed. Assuming Bennett, Knies, Cuylle are out of reach, Marchment is a pretty solid alternative to bring some of those traits- and on a pretty affordable contract for next season.
