The Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers March 7th NHL trade deadline deal for captain Brad Marchand somehow managed to get much worse following a major revelation from TSN hockey insider Pierre LeBrun.
When Elliotte Friedman broke the news that the Boston Bruins traded Marchand last Friday, many doubted the Sportsnet insider's credibility, despite being the top NHL insider in his long tenured career.
But for Bruins fans, it finally became a sadly reality when the team confirmed in on their social media accounts, despite GM Don Sweeney sounding certain that Marchand would return and sign with the Boston Bruins next season.
Bruins players are crushed, says NHL.com, and fans will be too after finding out this brand new revelation involving Marchand's arrival to Florida.
Fans believed that a second round conditional pick in return for Marchand was low, but with recently revealed contract details by a creditable source, Pierre LeBrun, a Senior Columnist for The Athletic, may create more chaos in the Boston Bruins fan-base.
Take a look:
«Little tid bit on Brad Marchand's contract, which was front-loaded when signed back in 2016: while the AAV is $6.125M, his actual cash this season was $4M, and $3M of that was paid already in a signing bonus. Which left $1M in salary this year. With 50% retention by Bruins, my math isn't great but I think Panthers in reality paying Marchand about $125k for rest of season in real money.»
