The Boston Bruins acquiring Leon Draisaitl has taken a surprising turn following recent reports.

The Edmonton Oilers are currently down 3-0 in the Stanley Cup finals and things aren't looking good for them, but fans are more worried about the futures of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.

There have been a lot of rumours surrounding Draisaitl potentially being traded or signing with the Boston Bruins when he becomes a free agent, but recent reports have put that to rest.

The Boston Bruins more than likely will not acquire Draisaitl as he and McDavid made it clear that they both want to get locked up in Edmonton and continue playing there.

Both McDavid and Draisaitl can become unrestricted free agents in 2025 and 2026, but according to Frank Seravalli they have both informed the team and management that they want to stay there and sign long-term contracts with the team.

"Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid have reportedly made it clear to the Edmonton Oilers management/owners that they have no intentions of leaving or testing free agency, and want to re-sign long-term in Edmonton. Per, Frank Seravalli." TheMug said on Instagram.

According to Bob Stauffer Leon Draisaitl is already in discussions with the team to get a deal in place down, and we can see him sign as early as July 1st.

"According to Bob Stauffer, the Oilers and Draisaitl have already begun extension discussions, and Draisaitl wants to be locked up long-term, not like the Auston Matthews deal in Toronto." TheMug said.
