The Boston Bruins have confirmed Matthew Poitras' fate with the Bruins
The Boston Bruins just announced Matthew Poitras' fate with the team heading into next season.
Poitras was a standout for the Boston Bruins last year as he averaged half a point per game at just 19 years old.
A lot of people were shocked to see Poitras make the Boston Bruins roster out of training camp, but he proved why he deserved to be there putting up 15 points in just 33 games.
Matthew Poitras had his season come to an end early after undergoing a shoulder injury that required surgery, and had a time line of 5 months for recovery.
He would miss most of the regular-season and would also miss the entire playoffs for the Bruins.
Matthew Poitras is expected to be the Boston Bruins second line center man and Bruins Network believes that if he does stay healthy that Poitras could potentially put up 40+ points.
Poitras was hovering around .50 PPG as a 19-year-old rookie in the NHL with a partially bum shoulder. Depending on his role, linemates and usage I could see him being a 40-point+ forward next season. Health and the rookie wall will have an impact, but he's got «it.» #NHLBruins
