Today is a special day for a Boston Bruins defenseman, and the organization made an announcement to the media regarding it.
With the injuries the Boston Bruins suffered to their defense last season, Michael Callahan got a shot in the NHL for the first time.
Callahan ended up appearing in 17 games for the Bruins where he scored 1 goal while being a minus-5.
Chances are he is not going to be starting this season with the Boston Bruins, but he could be an option for the Bruins as their 7th defenseman.
It's a special day for Callahan though, as today it's his birthday, and the Boston Bruins took the time out of their day to wish him a happy birthday.

Callahan could be the Bruins 7th defenseman
If the Boston Bruins end up facing injury problems once again this year, there is a solid chance that Callahan could get another shot in the NHL.
During his 17 games with the Boston Bruins, he looked pretty solid, and it wouldn't hurt for the Bruins to give him another shot.
But like Marco Sturm stated after being hired, everyone is going to have to earn their jobs this year, and if Callahan wants another chance in the NHL, he is going to have to earn it.
He had a pretty solid year with the Providence Bruins last season, appearing in 45 games, scoring 1 goal, 8 assists for 9 points on the year while being a plus-3.
