The Boston Bruins Organization Issued A Special Announcement Regarding Zdeno Chara

Originally, Chara was drafted by the New York Islanders organization back in 1996. He was a third round pick, being drafted 54th overall, and would spend the first eight years in the NHL before coming over to Boston.

After the 2005-06 season, the Boston Bruins ended up signing Zdeno Chara and the rest was history.

The Boston Bruins announced that they signed Zdeno Chara to a five-year $37.5 million contract.

All fourteen seasons Chara ended up spending with the Boston Bruins organization, he served as the captain, and lead the Bruins to a Stanley Cup, along with multiple other Stanley Cup appearances.

Following the 2020-21 season, the Boston Bruins decided to move on from the captain, and an era officially came to an end.

In 2022, Zdeno Chara would end up signing a one-day contract with the Boston Bruins so he could finish his career with the organization.

Big Z ended up playing 1,023 games for the Boston Bruins during his fourteen years with the organization and sits 7th in the teams history for most games played.

Today, the Boston Bruins social media team took the time to recognize Big Z and wished him a happy birthday.

Chara turned 48-years-old, and is still completing amazing accomplishments to this day.
