One of the Boston Bruins top prospects was just hit with some troubling news as it seems like his season is done after suffering an injury.

The Providence Bruins have a really good team this year, and might actually have a chance at winning the Calder Cup.
They currently rank 3rd in the Atlantic Division holding a record of 37-23-5-3, but with the loss of one of their top players it may change things.
Recently Providence General Manager Evan Gold revealed that head coach Ryan Mougenel was stepping away from the team due to a family matter. This couldn't come at a worse time as playoffs are right around the corner.
Statement from Evan Gold of the Bruins:

"Providence Bruins Head Coach Ryan Mougenel will be temporarily away from the team to attend to a family matter. Assistant Coach Trent Whitfield will assume head coaching responsibilities in the interim"
Now it was revealed that one of the Bruins top prospects has suffered a potential season ending injury, but there is some good news as well.

Bruins Prospect Suffers Season Ending Injury

On Friday night, Boston Bruins prospect Georgii Merkulov suffered an injury, and it is believed to be a season ending one.
The good news is that he is expected to be back for the playoffs according to New England Hockey Journals Mark Divver.
It's sounding like Georgii Merkulov could be out until the postseason

Leading scorer for Providence Bruins went down with an upper-body injury after taking a hit in third period on Friday night
The Boston Bruins are also eliminated from the NHL playoffs, and the Providence Bruins will more then likely get some players back once their season comes to an end.
It is expected that all of Fraser Minten, Fabian Lysell, and Vinni Lettieri are going to return to the Providence Bruins once the NHL Bruins season concludes.
Merkulov has been one the Bruins top scorers this year with 15 goals, 39 assists fro 54 points in 59 games this season.
