The 34-year-old signed a professional tryout contract with the Boston Bruins in the off-season just before training camp, but didn't earn an actual contract with the Bruins until November 4th, when the Bruins signed him to a one-year, $775,000 deal, but Johnson did not bring to the team what they thought he was going to.
In nine games with the Boston Bruins Johnson only had two assists, and kept getting healthy scratched, which would ultimately lead to the Bruins terminating his contract.
Johnson could bring some veteran leadership to a contending team, as the former 2x Stanley Cup Champion played a key role for the Tampa Bay Lightning when they won the Stanley Cup in 2020 and 2021.
It's unsure if Tyler Johnson will earn another contract, but there should be some teams interested in him.
