Another NHL Player From An Original Six Organization Tragically Passed Away Today
The hockey community is mourning the loss of another NHL player who played for multiple Original Six organizations.
Today it was reported that former Boston Bruins player Dwight Foster had passed away, now another former NHL player has unfortunately passed away.
It was announced that former NHL coach and player, Al MacNeil has sadly passed away at the age of 89.
Statement from the Calgary Flames organization on the passing of Al MacNeil:
«Al was a great man who will be dearly missed by our organization,» said Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation Chairman Murray Edwards. «He was a long-term loyal member of our Flames family ever since the team's arrival in Calgary in 1980. He played, coached, and managed in both the NHL and AHL, and had ultimate success while doing so. We send our heartfelt condolences to his wife Norma, son Allister, daughter Allison, son-in-law Paul Sparkes and grandsons Jack and Ben.»
Throughout his career, MacNeil appeared in a total of 524 games for multiple different organizations including the Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
