Over the past several days, we've been counting down the Boston Bruins' top five prospects, and last but certainly not least, the number one prospect.
Lysell was drafted in the first round (21st overall) by the Bruins at the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
The Swede offers a lot of what the Bruins are lacking on their NHL team, which may herald an arrival as soon as this season. The 19-year-old has speed, skating ability, and scoring potential. He showed that by putting up 22 goals and 40 assists in 62 games with the Vancouver Giants of the WHL.
Lysell (5'10'', 173 lbs.) made great strides last season with Vancouver and was a big factor in its history-making run in the playoffs last season, when it upset the top-seeded Everett Silvertips in the first round. He finished the playoffs with 4 goals and 17 assists in 12 games.
As per the Bruins Player Development Coordinator Adam McQuaid:
''We're very happy with the way he progressed as the year went on He grew and grew and then his playoff run, the most important time of the year, he was playing his best hockey. He really put that team on his back. He's a great kid. He's going to be a good player.''
Projected NHL arrival: This season
