Bruce Cassidy updates Bruins' fans on Tuukka Rask status
Tuesday night multiple reports began to surface that veteran goaltender Tuukka Rask was calling an end to his attempted NHL return. Those same sources reported that Rask didn't feel well enough to continue his return and instead would be opting for retirement in the coming days. Well if that's the case no one informed the Bruins' head coach about it.
It was reported Tuesday, by The Athletic that Rask was working to "finalize his retirement decision in the next few days."
After the Bruins 4-2 loss to the Penguins head coach Bruce Cassidy was asked about the news and he gave a Classic Cassidy answer.
"I think that's for Tuukka to comment on his stature," Cassidy said, "I was told he wouldn't practice this week. I don't think that's changing at all. So if he has something to say, I think I'll leave it to him."
While Cassidy clearly doesn't have all the details, he also clearly has enough respect for Rask to let him share his own news on his own terms. We will continue to provide updates as they become available.
