GM Don Sweeney has made some interesting roster moves during the Boston Bruins' offseason.
However, with the team's recent signings, it now finds itself $2.2M over the NHL's salary cap.
While the B's have a few players they can add to the LTIR to free up some space, they'll still need to adjust before any of their injured stars are set to return.
According to our friends at Boston Hockey Now, the Bruins are apparently considering moving on from forward
Craig Smith.
''I can confirm an actual trade offer was made but after trying to find common ground for awhile, the talks were put on hold,'' the source told BHN. ''This team really wanted Smith and wanted this to happen.''
Smith, who is 32 years old, is set to make $3.1M next season in what is set to be the final year of his contract.
According to the article, Don Sweeney is also taking calls for veteran winger
Nick Foligno and his $5.5M deal.
