The Boston Bruins are back home tonight against the New Jersey Devils and will try to keep pace with the first place Tampa Bay Lightning, who won last night in Chicago.
The Bruins are catching the Devils at the right time as All-Star Taylor Hall, who leads the team in goals, assists and points, will sit out tonight's game out with a hand injury.  Brian Gibbons, who is second on the team in goals, will also be out of action.
After missing three games due to illness, goaltender Cory Schneider will start his second game in as many nights after losing 3-0 to the Detroit Red Wings Monday night.
Charlie McAvoy, who had the game winning goal the first time these two teams met up, will miss tonight's game as he is recovering from a procedure to help an irregular heartbeat.
Head coach Bruce Cassidy told reporters today that McAvoy was released from the hospital this morning.  Kevan Miller will return to the lineup after missing the last three games.
Tuukka Rask will be back between the pipes for the Bruins tonight.  Rask is 14-0-2 in his last 16 starts and has given up just 26 goals during that span.
The Bruins have been enjoying quite a bite of success against New Jersey of late.  They are 8-2-0 in their last 10 games against the Devils and 20-5-0 over the last 25 meetings.  They have won five straight games at the TD Garden over New Jersey, with their last loss coming back in October of 2013.
