The hockey community is continuing to grieve over the deaths of Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau, and there has been a lot of anticipation on how the Columbus Blue Jackets are going to honour them this year. Well the Blue Jackets just revealed their plans today.
During the teams first preseason game and all throughout the 2024-25 regular season, the Blue Jackets players will be wearing a special sticker on their helmets.
The stickers will have "Gaudreau" written on them and will also feature both players numbers (13, and 21) with two doves between the numbers.
There will also be a patch on the Blue Jackets jerseys to honour them, and they will have this there for the entire season, and they will be handing this patch out to fans who attend the home opener.
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman also stated that the Blue Jackets will leave Gaudreau's stall in the dressing room and will have his jersey hung there all season long. What a classy, and touching move by the Blue Jackets.
