The tougher teams always seem to make it the furthest in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Boston hockey has always been known to be gritty and in your face. For the Bruins, having players who can stand up for themselves has always been a priority, as well as a winning recipe.
A quick glance at the team's last Cup run will show you just how needed tough guys have been for the franchise. But with the B's eyeing Lord Stanley's Cup again this year, do they have enough heavyweights to go all the way?
The Bruins finished the regular season in 12th place in the NHL with 21 fighting majors. While that's well off some of the West Coast teams, it places them only behind the Ottawa Senators (32), Tampa Bay Lightning (31), New York Islanders (24) and the Philadelphia Flyers (23) in the Eastern Conference.
One of the newest Bruins, defenseman
Josh Brown, seems happy to toss the gloves off as well.
The Bruins also finished 3rd in the NHL in total hits thrown this season, with 2,205 in total. They only trailed the Ottawa Senators (2,417) and the Nashville Predators (2,470).
The added playoff roster addition of
Chris Wagner adds some grit to the lineup as well. The veteran collected 11 hits in 15:57 of ice-time in his only NHL game this season.
Will they have enough man strength to get through the playoffs and make a deep run?
By the looks of it, the B's seem close to unstoppable right now!
