NHL insider Elliotte Friedman updated his listeners on the potential new pro Hockey League that is scheduled to form in the fall of 2024, where he states that former Bruins forward Phil Kessel maybe a player targeted to joining this league.

Information and plans for this league are difficult to come by even though there is a website posted. The league, known as the Major League hockey, will be a three-on-three hockey style which will have $30 million in cap space and the games will only be 24 minutes long.

The original news broke from Steve dangle of the Steve dangle podcast where he went on to explain what he understood of this new league.

«I do expect some kind of announcement during the Stanley Cup Final about this, a revelation as to exactly what this is, what the goals are and what they are trying to do,» Friedman said. «I think the picture is going to become a bit more clear some time during the Cup Final.»

As the discussion grew larger, Friedman speculated on the idea that Phil Kessel could be the new face of the franchise as he has a desire to still play hockey but was unable to crack the lineup of this Vancouver Canucks earlier this year.

«I think a bunch of players have reached out and are curious about it If there's a chance to play hockey for legitimate money, people are going to be interested,» Friedman said.

It will be a fascinating story as it unfolds and with many people sceptical on the potential formation of this new league and the appetite for fans to want to go watch three on three hockey all the time certainly has some intrigue.
