Veteran Sam Gagner was a highly touted prospect before he was drafted sixth overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
In his draft year with the London Knights of the OHL in 2006–07, Gagner scored 118 points in 53 games, finishing fifth in league scoring.
In 967 career NHL games, the veteran has recorded 184 goals and 321 assists for a total of 505 points. On February 2nd, 2011, Gagner tied two Oilers franchise records against the Chicago Blackhawks by scoring 5 points in one period and 8 points in a single game.
Gagner has spent his 15 NHL seasons with the Edmonton Oilers (two stints), Arizona Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers, Columbus Blue Jackets, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks and Detroit Red Wings.
As a free agent, one fan has shared that Gagner has possibly leaked who the next team he will play for will be:
Of course, Gagner played with the Oilers on two separate occasions throughout his career, and it is most likely just an old workout shirt. The post was also shared by an Oilers fan which makes it even less accurate.
However, as per journalist Kurt Leavins, Oilers' general manager has had talks with Gagner's camp:
