Earlier today, the NHL's Department of Player Safety disclosed that New York Rangers rookie forward Matt Rempe would face a phone hearing following his Monday night elbow incident involving Jonas Siegenthaler.

"NY Rangers' Matt Rempe will have a hearing today for elbowing New Jersey's Jonas Siegenthaler." Player Safety said.

The play occurred with just 30 seconds left in the 2nd period when Rempe aimed to hit Devils defenseman Siegenthaler.

However, Rempe's raised elbow struck Siegenthaler in the face, resulting in a 5-minute major penalty and a game misconduct.

Despite three prior questionable hits, Rempe has no history of suspension. The subsequent phone hearing suggested a suspension of less than five games.

Now, the NHL Department of Player Safety has officially announced Rempe's four-game suspension for elbowing Siegenthaler.

NY Rangers' Matt Rempe has been suspended for four games for elbowing New Jersey's Jonas Siegenthaler.
