Every off-season. the NHL looks at potential rule changes, and during the NHLPA Media Tour in Las Vegas, multiple players were interviewed to share their thoughts on current rules that would change.
And as a recent post on Instagram showed that there's at least five substantial rules or aspects that players would either change or get rid of. The most significant being the shootout, as per @nhlbreakers:
''Several players voted for the NHL to make three-on-three overtime endless.''
The league abolished ties and opted to add in a five-minute three-on-three overtime and the shootout for the extra point. Clearly, it was just an added element to add more excitement for fans because the players don't seem to like it. It's safe to say that the fun has worn off for fans as well.
Other notable changes the players shared are 'clearer goaltender inference rules' and 'getting rid of the trapezoid for goalies.' See the post below for all the changes players would like to see.
