The Ottawa Senators may have had the best offseason in the entire NHL this summer, with both the additions and subtractions general manager Pierre Dorion has been able to make.
Now, the Senators are adding two more names to the list of new faces.
Per Ian Mendes of The Athletic, Ottawa has signed two former top ten NHL draft picks to professional tryouts (PTOs):
Michael Dal Colle was originally the New York Islanders' fifth overall pick at the 2014 Entry Draft. However, the now 26-year-old hasn't been able to live up to the hype as he's only appeared in 112 NHL games, recording just 8 goals and 13 assists.
Brassard, 34, is what you call a journeyman NHLer—selected initially sixth overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2006. The Quebec native has played for ten different NHL teams in 15 seasons (Blue Jackets, Rangers, Senators, Penguins, Panthers, Avalanche, Islanders, Coyotes, Flyers and Oilers).
The veteran was a solid production player in his prime, putting up consistent 40 to 60-point seasons. During his 951-game career, he has registered 202 goals and 302 assists, along with 68 points in 118 playoff games.
