UFA forward Ondrej Palat is moving on from the Tampa Bay Lightning, the team he helped propel to three straight Stanley Cup Finals, winning twice.
NHL insider Kevin Weekes was the first to report that the clutch playoff performer was on the move:
Sportsnet's Chris Johnston broke the details of the contract a few moments later, stating it was quite a done deal yet.
And it was all confirmed by none other than Elliotte Friedman:
Drafted 208th overall by the Lightning back in 2011, Palat has turned into a massive draft steal for the club. In 628 career games, the Czech native has recorded 143 goals and 280 assists for a total of 423 points.
Most of his damage was done in the postseason, though, as Palat has 48 goals and 46 assists in 138 games. Most notably is 27 goals and 25 assists in the past three postseasons, where the Lightning played a total of 71 games.
