As hockey fans, we all love physical play. A big hit has the ability to completely alter the course of a game. Unfortunately, today during a game in the KHL a hit left a player motionless and in intensive care.
In a game today between SKA-Neva and Dynamo, a Pittsburgh Penguins prospect suffered what appears to be a very serious injury.
Kirill Tankov was selected by the Penguins in the seventh round of the 2021 NHL Draft. Today while playing for SKA-Neva, Tankov was hit from behind by Artyom Maltsev from Dynamo. The hit sent Tankov to the ice, where he remained motionless.
*VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED*
Maltsev was ejected from the game and Tankov, who didn't give a thumbs up but appeared to move his arm was taken to hospital via ambulance. Most recent updates share that Tankov is in intensive care and being treated for an undisclosed injury.
Thoughts are with Tankov as he battles this injury.
