Update on NHL prospect who suffered traumatic neck injury

NHL prospect Kirill Tankov was severely injured during a game in Russia on September 5th and was eventually stretchered off the ice.
Selected with the 218th pick by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2021, Tankov suffered a fractured vertebra in his neck on the play. However, it was announced this morning that the youngster underwent successful surgery two days ago.
According to a picture trending on Twitter, the kid is in good spirits:
During the second period of a game between SKA-Neva and Dynamo St. Petersburg in the Russian second league, the forward was stretchered off the ice following a head-first collision with the boards.

Tankov immediately fell to the ice, motionless, where he remained for several minutes while being attended to by medical staff. Artyom Maltsev was assessed a penalty and ejected from the game for the hit and was also suspended three games for his actions.
The Penguins prospect will miss the remainder of the season after sustaining a serious injury to his neck.
