Evander Kane suffered one of the most gruesome injuries on Tuesday night when he and the Edmonton Oilers were visiting the Tampa Bay Lightning.
After he fell to the ice, Kane had his wrist cut by the skate of a passing Pat Maroon.
Kane immediately skated off the ice and was taken to a local hospital to undergo surgery. Now, the forward is back with his teammates and recently discussed the extent of the injury with the media.
''Blood just shot up. I've never seen that much blood before. I didn't want to bleed out. I pretty much cut everything down to the bone.''
''Down to the bone.'' Wow. Kane is on long-term injured reserve and is expected to be out for the next three to four months. It's good to see he's in good spirits now, knowing that he suffered not only a career-threatening but possibly a life-threatening injury.
