The Shawinigan Cataractes and the Charlottetown Islanders are to two teams left standing in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).
The own-goal overtime winner happened in game three on Wednesday night in Shawinigan.
Just 46 seconds in, Cataractes forward Charles Beaudoin threw a puck on net while falling down near the right side of the net, and in an attempt to clear the puck from out front, Islander defenseman Noah Laaouan swept it right into his own net, giving Shawinigan the 5-4 win.
Clearly, Laaouan was just trying to put the puck behind his net and out of danger:
To make matters worse, the win gave Shawinigan a 3-0 series lead over Charlottetown in the QMJHL Finals.
