Earlier in the offseason, it was reported that Minnesota Wild star forward Kirill Kaprizov may be in trouble back home in Russia due to military service evasion.
At the time, general manager of the Wild, Bill Guerin, downplayed the situation. However, it's now being reported that the situation was quite scary for the club and that Guerin and the rest of the Wild front office were concerned.
''It was very serious. I was very concerned. We all were in the organization. We had to act quickly and jump through a bunch of hoops''
Allegedly, Kaprizov had a warrant out for his arrest in his home country for using a fake military ID, and that the time brought in some kind of ''specialists'' to help get the forward back to the United States.
NHLBreakers on Instagram had the story covered:
Kaprizov was originally selected in the fifth round (135th overall) by the Wild back in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. The 25-year-old had a career year in 2021-22, recording 47 goals and 61 assists in 81 games played.
Good to hear that Kaprizov is in Minnesota now, and okay!
