It was reported that the Hurricanes were shopping the winger's rights earlier this month, but could it be that he stays in Carolina?
According to Elliotte Friedman on the Pat McAfee show, the Winger is asking the Hurricanes for 8x$8 M, which is a hefty price, but for his production worth it.
Now that that news is being broadcast everywhere, if the Hurricanes cannot match that asking price, should the Bruins step in and offer a contract to the winger?
If the Hurricanes let him walk to free agency, that would be a huge loss of production that the team cannot replicate as Guentzel, is a 78-point winger, with a consistent level of production during his NHL career.
Not to mention, Tulsky would take a huge loss after trading away assets for Guentzel who would more or less be a rental.
It had been reported that the Bruins were attempting to sign the winger in order to flip him to Vancouver for Elias Lindholm, back in March but the trade never materialized.
It looks like Guentzel could get his projected deal in Carolina at $8 Million AAV, but nothing is in stone.
Split between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Pittsburgh Penguins, the winger scored 78 points( 34 G, 44 A).
