An unfortunate announcement was made involving Boston Bruins goaltender Michael DiPietro

While Michael DiPietro has just signed a two-year, $1.63 million contract extension with the Boston Bruins this summer, his tenure in the organization appears to be numbered.

This is mostly due to the fact that the Boston Bruins currently have three NHL level goaltenders on their roster, and are evidently in need to depart with at least one.

That being said, a recent statement regarding Michael DiPietro's future has just been unveiled by a well-trusted NHL insider.

On the 32 Thoughts Podcast, Sportnet's Elliotte Friedman unveiled some concerning insight regarding DiPietro and his future within this Original Six franchise.

In a newly posted podcast, Friedman revealed that he has no doubt that teams will be interested in this net minder.

This news is ultimately no surprise, as reports since June have indicated that several teams showed interest in signing DiPietro during the offseason, prior to the Boston Bruins working out an extension with him.

However, the Boston Bruins are nearing the 2025/26 NHL regular season with three goaltenders, and at this time, majority of fingers are pointing at DiPietro's depature, as Jeremy Swayman and Joonas Korpisalo are most likely to be cemented in the roster for the upcoming season.
