Failed blockbuster trade between the Boston Bruins and Utah Mammoth: Elliotte Friedman just confirmed it

The Boston Bruins and Utah Mammoth almost combined for a pretty big trade according to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman.
Before being traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs, Elliotte Friedman revealed that the Boston Bruins were one of the teams that were interested in acquiring a Mammoth forward.
Failed trade between the Bruins and Mammoth
Elliotte Friedman just recently revealed that the Boston Bruins were a team that in on Mammoth's young forward Matias Maccelli.
"I heard there were three or four teams that were in on Maccelli," Friedman said. "I think Boston was one, and I think Edmonton was one."
The 24-year-old has shown a lot of potential in the NHL, and could have made a big impact on the Boston Bruins.
If the Boston Bruins would have landed Maccelli, he would have immediately made their offense better.
And with how badly the Boston Bruins are struggling for offense, this would have been a game changing move for the Bruins to make.
Maccelli only had 18 points in 55 games for Utah last season, but he is a top candidate to have a bounce back year heading into 2025-26.
Just two years ago in 2023-24 with the Arizona Coyotes, he ended up recording 17 goals, 57 points in 82 games.
Boston's middle six is pretty terrible, and with them signing a lot of depth players during free agency, adding someone like him would have changed things for the organization going into next year.
