The Vancouver Canucks made it a point to sign two Boston Bruins who walked in free agency.

One of them was defenseman Derek Forbort, who didn't sign with the Bruins but would sign a one-year deal in Vancouver with GM Patrik Allvin.

The contract value would be $1.5 Million AAV, over one year for the veteran forward.

«Derek gives us another big blueliner who has very good size and reach,» said Allvin. «He defends well in his own end and works extremely hard in winning one-on-one puck battles and defending the front of the net. He plays with an edge and will make our backend better.»

What the hell is going with the Canucks and Bruins guys?

The Canucks and Bruins have been mortal enemies since the 2011 Stanley Cup finals it seems.

But switching players? Seems alright!

The 32-year-old defenseman played 35 games with the Boston Bruins posting 4 points, 17 PIMs, and a plus/minus of +8 and playing in three playoff games in 2023-2024.

The 6'4" 216-pound defenseman has played 496 NHL games during his career, posting 95 points( 17 G, 78 A), 299 PIMs, and a +30 rating.

He has split his time in the NHL between Los Angeles, Calgary, Winnipeg, and Boston.
