The Boston Bruins have traded away their core pieces during the trade deadline, including Captain Brad Marchand, and will have to consider who their next captain will be. Is it forward David Pastrnak?

As it stands now, the Bruins only have two possible replacements for Brad Marchand in the lineup.
One of them is David Pastrnak who has worn the "A" alternate captains patch all season, and Charlie McAvoy who is out recovering from an upper-body injury.
The biggest question for the franchise and fans all over is who will be the next Bruins player to wear the fabled "C"?
It's been passed down from Zdeno Chara to Patrice Bergeron and lastly Brad Marchand.
The two obvious candidates are McAvoy and Pastrnak and we suspect they might be too humble to accept the honor outright.
«I (haven't thought) about it honestly,» said Pastrnak. «I got the A and I haven't changed a bit. Obviously the role changes a bit. You lead more but you just try to stay being yourself.

Right now, we have 17 games left and that's my main focus, to build on those two games. We played pretty good hockey, the last two (in a win in Tampa and a painful loss in Carolina). This has to be our standard for the rest of the season and we'll see where it takes us.»
Pastrnak has been the only whose carried the team on his back offensively for the past two years.
Even after the retirements of David Krejci, and Patrice Bergeron, Pastrnak would produce at a high level to do his best to keep the Bruins competitive as a team.
He's continued his reign of terror across the NHL this season as well.
But from an offensive standpoint it was thanks mostly to Pastrnak, who notched 43 more points than the second-place scorer on the B's, Marchand. This year, Pastrnak is sixth in the league in scoring on a team that's ranked 28th in goal-scoring.

This season in 62 games with the Bruins he's scored 79 points (32 goals, 47 assists) and shows no signs of stopping.
While he may deny the honor of wearing the captain's patch he's a natural leader for the Bruins organization and deserves consideration before anyone else.
