They ended up acquiring Seth Jones from the Chicago Blackhawks, and then also went out and acquired Brad Marchand from the Boston Bruins, without really having to give anything up.

Marchand was injured whenever the Boston Bruins traded him, hurting his trade value, and not only that, but Marchand requested the trade there, giving the Bruins no leverage at all.

Marchand got to play a handful of games with the Panthers before the playoffs began, but his one linemate has been absent the entire time since he was acquired.

Matthew Tkachuk was supposed to be good to go for game one of the playoffs, which is tonight for the Florida Panthers, but a turn of events has surfaced.

According to Paul Maurice, he told reporters today that Matthew Tkachuk is going to be a game-time decision today when the Panthers faceoff against the Lightning for game one.

Maurice stated that Matthew Tkachuk is going to have to get approval from the team's doctors before suiting up for their game tonight, but he will be taking pre-game warmups tonight, and if everything goes well he will be in the lineup tonight.

Tkachuk has been out of the lineup since suffering an injury during the 4 Nations Face-Off.
